Veterans Quilt News

Before I get to the great news I want to announce that I (Vicki) will not be accepting quilt tops again until September. I have over 20 right now and will be away the entire month of August. I have all I can handle at the moment. I've quilted 30 already toward my commitment of 40. I know I'll do more than 40 this year but I'm not sure how many more because I have 4 big quilts of my own to quilt.

If you are quilting your own or have someone to quilt them for you I'll be happy to provide backing. batting and labels. Just let me know what you need and we can arrange a time to meet.

The great news is that I delivered these 25 quilts to our contact (and new neighbor). Jen has moved to our side of the county so it's a short 4.5 mile drive to take quilts to her now. This brings our YTD total to 47!

Go ahead, give yourself a little pat on the back. This is a great accomplishment from our little group.

Change for June meeting – sorry for the late notice.

Last week I was given the wrong information – it turns out that both our building and the Montpelier Center are used for polling, so we will not be able to meet tomorrow (Tuesday, June 8). 

We have rescheduled our meeting for Tuesday, June 15, at the usual time.  We will be in the Parks and Recreation building.  Becky Brown will be presenting a program on Star Quilts.  Thank you, Becky!

If you previously registered for the meeting, your registration has been transferred and you don’t need to do anything further.  Yay!  If you plan to attend but haven’t yet registered, please do so on the county site.  Thanks.

June meeting and future programs

Our meeting is next week! We will be back in the Parks and Rec building. Hanover County asks that we all register prior to the meeting (link in my May 21 post); a county employee will be at the meeting to check everyone in and take temperatures.

Masks are not required, but Hanover County recommends that we all follow CDC guidelines.

Right now we do not have a program planned. If anyone has something they would like to share as a program, please either email me or sign up on the program schedule here on our blog. Everyone is encouraged to bring show and tell.

We do have a program scheduled for July; the rest of the year is open so please sign up to share your expertise or enthusiasms with the rest of the group!
