Upcoming meetings and sewing days

Hanover County is still asking that we register in advance for our meetings and sewing days.  Registration is now available on their website at https://secure.rec1.com/VA/hanover-county-va/catalog/index/debf1a5ce9f732d025cdc0fe81fac7d7?filter=c2VhcmNoPXF1aWx0ZXJz

for September through December.

Our September meeting is on the 14th at 7 pm.  We do not currently have a program scheduled so if you’d like to volunteer, that would be great!  But we can always just socialize and have show and tell.  😊

In October we will meet on the 12th for our Trash and Treasure sale.

In November we will meet on the 9th, and in December on the 14th.  Mark your calendars!

Sewing Days sign-ups are now combined for Friday and Saturday.  You are not required to come both days!  If all the slots fill up, I will talk to our county contact about splitting the sign-ups, because I know there are some people who only come one day. Sewing days are:

September 10-11

October 8-9

November 19-20 (moved from our regular week because the county had a conflict)

December 10-11

August meetings

Meeting next week, on Tuesday, August 10 at our usual spot.

Liz Scott will be presenting a program on English paper piecing. Thanks, Liz!

I am not able to be at the meeting this time so someone else will need to move things along. :-)

Our sewing days this month are August 13 and 14.

Veterans Quilt News

Here's the latest stack of quilts before they were delivered to out VA Hospital contact. That's 31 quilts!!

Our total for the year is 78. You all have done amazing work creating all of these quilts.

Here are a couple of reminders:

- I (Vicki) will not be at the August meeting to take tops or finished quilts. One of the other quilters might be able to take tops so you can bring them. If there's no one to quilt them just hold them until September. I do not know when I will be quilting again (not before October) but I'll put them in the closet.

- Optimal size for the quilts is 48" x 60". We can accept an inch or 2 smaller and a inch or so bigger, but the backing and batting is precut so we do not have a ton of flexibility.

- If you want to quilt your own quilt I can provide you with backing and batting. All you have to do is ask. I'll even do my best to dye a matching backing for you.

- Please do not use any fragrance when you wash the fabrics or quilts. I'm is very allergic. The quilts and the tops might stay in my house for a couple of months and I just can't have fragrance in my house for that long. I can't quilt tops that have fragrance in them at all.
