Sewing days for January and February

Sewing Days for January are the 8th and 9th.

Please note that Hanover County has changed their restrictions and we are now limited to 9 for each day. If you plan to attend, you need to register through Hanover County; Register online now at Sewing Days. Given the limited numbers and the size of our group, if you want to come both days I suggest you start by signing up for one day, then if there is still space when it gets closer, you can sign up for the second day. Let's give as many people as possible the opportunity to attend.

Registration is also available for the February dates - the 12th and 13th.

Thanks for your donations to WHEAT!

Cathy Williams sent me several pieces of good news.

First, WHEAT made $2025 on their most recent quilt raffle, which was a yellow, green, and lavender quilt made by member Judy Shortt. Isn't that fantastic?  Thank you to Judy and to everyone else who contributed.

Secondly, Cathy approximated the food weights from our December drive, and CSQ (with help from the community) gave approximately 162 pounds of food for The WHEAT Open Pantry. There were a few cleaning supplies, 1 hygiene kit, some paper products, a bag full of fleece scarves and baby blankets and some items to include in hygiene kits.  Thanks go to all who gave to make their neighbors able to feed their families and to make them a little more comfortable. There was also $170 given in checks, which WHEAT will use to buy what is needed to complete their inventory lists for the next few pantries.

Cathy also said: "Your support of WHEAT is overwhelming to me. You are all caring and are actively engaged in giving to those less fortunate in our community of Western Hanover County. You gals are a good bunch of folks. Glad to be a part of you."  Cathy, we thank YOU for all you do for WHEAT and our community!

December meeting is next week!

On December 8th we will again be meeting in the Montpelier Center ballroom from 7-9. There won't be a potluck this year, but please bring holiday show-and-tell, and anything else you have to show us. :-)

We will encourage everyone to space themselves out (there's lots of room) and wear face coverings if you can.

Gwendolyn is still collecting squares for our next group quilt - there is a post below that explains what she needs. These are easy and will make a beautiful veterans quilt!

Please remember your non-perishable food donations for our WHEAT food drive - Becky has posted the updated list of what they particularly need. If you prefer, WHEAT is always happy to have monetary donations as well. Also, if you want to contribute but won't make it to the meeting, we've put a collection box in the Montpelier Center hallway where our two veterans quilts are hung. You can leave donations in the box any time the center is open.

And finally, sewing days this month are on the 11th and 12th. If you plan to attend, you need to register through Hanover County; Register online now at Sewing Days. You should receive an email confirmation once your registration is complete.

I hope to see many of you on the 8th!
