Another Quilt Exhibit!

Ready for some more inspiration? The Virginia and North Carolina SAQA Region has a fabulous online exhibit called Let The Sunshine In!

You will want to check it out because Margaret Griffiths and Estelle Porter have pieces in the exhibit.

Check it out here.

2022 Quilt Exhibit at the Montpelier Center

I’ve been in touch with Allyson Catoe at the Montpelier Center about a quilt exhibit for some time in 2022.  They are running their shows for 2 months at a time, and right now they have available March and April, or July and August.  Given how long it takes us to prepare for the show, March seems a bit soon, but we need to decide as a group.  Please comment here to let me know your preference for either of the proposed dates, or for putting it off until 2023.  Also, whenever we decide to do this, we will need a committee to organize the whole thing.  If you’d like to volunteer in some capacity, let me know!

Quilt Exhibit at the Hanover Museum is open!

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Carolyn Mills, Karen Hayes and Elsa Brooks, along with the museum director, there's a wonderful quilt exhibit at the new Hanover History Museum!

The museum is located at 7496 County Complex Rd, across from the Wickham Building in the Hanover County complex.  Parking is in the main lot across the road from the museum. It's right next to the historic courthouse building. The museum hours are Tuesday - Friday noon - 4:00 and Saturday 10:00 - 2:00. The exhibit will run through December 12.

Share the exhibit details with your friends and family and be sure to get by to see it! Here are photos from the exhibit.

This first quilt is one that's on loan from Scotchtown and it's amazing.

The hexagons in this quilt are about 3/8"! You have to see it.

Here are as many photos as I Blogger allowed me to upload.

TRASH to TREASURE Sale - Oct. 12, 7 p.m.

It's been a couple years since we had our Trash to Treasure Sale and we already have a bunch of goodies. Please bring any items you care to donate, and if something doesn't sell, it goes home with you.

The bidding will be "silent" - just write your bid price and name on the paper by the item you want. All money from this event will be used to purchase backing fabric and batting for our veteran quilts, also remember bidding will be in one dollar increments. Donations include vintage fabrics, a Sew Steady extension table for a Husqvarna Viking Sapphire 870 machine (still in the box), complete kit for a queen size quilt, jelly rolls, books, patterns, and lots of fabrics. There is a nice set of 4" vintage blocks, as well as a big bag of vintage 2" squares, which would be very useful for repairing old quilts from the 1930-1950's. Wool embroidery is very popular now and we have been given a lot of never used patterns. Be sure to check them out.

Take a look at some of the things that have been donated.

See you Tuesday - meeting starts at 7 p.m.

Happy mail!

Peggy Ladner may have moved away from us but she hasn't forgotten us! I received a package from her Wednesday with 3 veterans quilts!
This one is not pink! My camera washed out the color.
She also sent us some items for the Trash to Treasure sale next week.

Thank you Peggy!
